Shower Enclosures - Shower Doors
Origins Shower Doors
Shower enclosures come in many configurations, particularly for the door, and while this is advantageous as it can account for different requirements – it can also become highly confusing. At Origins UK we aim to simplify this, and help you find exactly what you need without having to know all the technical jargon.
The hinged door can be seen as the most conventional, which is a door that is commonly hinged from the wall and opens outwardly. Generally sizes start around 700mm wide and you can look to go up to around 1700mm, although some manufacturers do produce larger. Similar to this kind of door is the Pivot shower door, which is pivoted from the rail of the door, usually at the top and bottom, and with this tends to open inwards, which is definitely advantageous for saving space, as less room is needed to account for opening.
Following on this idea of saving space, is the Sliding Shower Door, which eliminates the need for any kind of opening space, both internally and externally of the enclosure, and with this there is less water being splashed and dripped onto the floor, which can be a major advantage, especially for both cleaning’s sake and also safety when stepping out of the shower.
A bi-fold door can also eliminate any kind of opening space, as the doors fold in and much like the sliding door, remove the need for a large opening space and again stops water dripping everywhere upon opening.
While requiring a bit more space than the previous enclosures, the Quadrant enclosure and some of its more unorthodox shapes can provide quite a large showering space, though the sizes are still commonly what you would expect, usually around 800x800 up to 1000 x 1000 – although we can also provide offset models of these which tend to sit around 800 x 900, 1000 or 1200mm.
